Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport (IATA code: PVR) currently operates one main commercial terminal handling both domestic and international flights, as well as a general aviation terminal and an FBO (Fixed Base Operator) run by Aerotron Servicios Aéreos Corporativos for private and charter flights.

The airport operates up to 54 routes during peak season with more than 1,000 weekly operations, ranking as the fifth most internationally connected airport in Mexico, with 23 routes to the United States and 15 to Canada.

In 2025, the airport welcomed 6,947,700 passengers, cementing its position as one of the most important tourist gateways on Mexico's Pacific Coast.

IMPORTANT! The airport is currently undergoing a major expansion. The new Terminal 2 (New Terminal Building) is scheduled to be fully operational in 2026, adding capacity for more than 4.5 million additional passengers per year.

Main Terminal - Commercial Aviation

Puerto Vallarta Airport Terminals

The main terminal handles all commercial air traffic at the airport, including both domestic and international flights. The ground floor features small shops, food stalls, banks, currency exchange offices, and magazine and souvenir stands, along with airline check-in counters for confirming flights, purchasing tickets, and checking luggage.

The second floor is home to restaurants, retail stores, and the security checkpoint that leads to the departure gates. Both domestic and international passengers depart from the same level; the second floor also houses the duty-free shops, available exclusively for international travelers.

General Aviation Terminal

Dedicated to private and corporate flights. The FBO is operated by Aerotron Servicios Aéreos Corporativos and serves a runway measuring 3,100 meters long by 45 meters wide.

Tips for Your Arrival at Puerto Vallarta Airport

  • Arrive at least 2 hours early for domestic flights and 3 hours early for international flights.
  • Check your flight status before leaving for the airport, especially during rainy season (July–October).
  • If connecting from another Mexican airport, confirm with your airline whether you need to collect your luggage in Puerto Vallarta or if it will be checked through to your final destination.
  • The private transfer and shuttle pickup area is located at the terminal exit. We strongly recommend booking your transfer in advance to avoid long wait times and high taxi fares at the airport.
